March 15 - Soccercats vs Clinton 3 - 0

Cats played well given the conditions of the field and fast playing surface.  Clinton young like us and have great potential.

It was nice to see us put to use some of the things we have been working on in practice.  It feels great when that comes to fruition.  We are creating more opportunities last year, and while we still do not have the desired rhythm, we are playing more as a team than last year.

Clean sheet for the defense, which is helpful in early part of season (Wilson, Campbell, Renner and Grim and Hamdi.

Had to make some adjustments with the replacing of Therrien.

March 29- SoccerCats vs Central  4 - 0

We are very proud of the Cats tonight as they well on both sides of the ball. While we did not manage to find the back of the net in the 1st half, we created a myriad of opportunities that we were able to capitalize on after the break. A concern coming in was a let down because of the long layoff and spring break.  We dominated in the midfield, which used our defense to bridge the field.  It was a great game to watch.

March 31- SoccerCats vs Cookeville 2 - 1

Even though we won, I do not know how.  This was the most un-composed game we have played to date. A disappointing victory wherein defensively we struggled at times, yet still remained focused in defending Wilson’s net.  Wilson makes a nice safe at the end on a ball that bounced in front of the goal and he parried over.  Adding to the horrible windy conditions was a number of questionable calls that were made on the field.  Rather than to accept, we seemed to spend more time debating those issues versus playing. Until we learn to play composed and organized, we will struggle in the big games down the road.  This is a must that we have to conquer.

We spent 35 minutes of the 2nd half in our own side of the field while Cookeville had the wind at their back.  Their only game came on a PK.  While the PK was deserved, there was a foul outside the box that the assistant referee flagged, but the center official waived off.  Shortly thereafter, Renner committed a foul deserving of the PK.

We received four yellow cards, which is unheard off for our soccer program.  All as a result of not being in control.  Hatfield received yellow/red and was forced from the game the last 30 minutes.

Castillo had a nice finish after beating five defenders tucking the ball in the back of the net.  Hatfield’s goal came from about 25 yards out to the far post beating the GK.

April 3- SoccerCats vs Bearden 2 - 3

April 5- SoccerCats vs Halls 3 -1

The soccer cats did not play well tonight.  It seemed like they did just enough to win a district game, compared to the effort that was produced the previous match with Bearden.  While we had very good moments tonight, those were overshadowed by a lack of effort throughout the night.  Defensively we played well with the exception of the goal which was a miscommunication between Tony Cacheiro and Ryan Wilson.

While the game is chalked under the W, the coaching staff would have been much happier with a game that was played with more enthusiasm and patience.  Halls seemed to bunker into the defense often having 9 players behind the ball.  Halls is a much improved team, but I felt the soccer cats should have dominated on the scoreboard a bit more.
