ORHS Boys Soccercats Booster Meeting

Minutes – February 15, 2007

 

Officers - Denise Hamdi agreed to serve as President this year, Hughie Thomas will continue as Treasurer, and Mary Palmer Campbell will be Secretary.  Volunteers for Vice-President to support the President are welcomed.

1. Pancake breakfast (March 10th) – This will be held at the OR Country clubAll players and families will be asked to sell a certain number of tickets and make a donation of juice or milk.  The players will be divided between the breakfast and camp that morning.  Chairs are Kate Shult, Rossy Toledo, and Lesly Hendershot.

2. Soccer Camp (March 9 – 11) – Boosters were asked to distribute the flyer to everyone you can by email, and post wherever possible.  Advertisement to be done by Renner at St. Mary’s; Campbell at west side schools; Toledo at Glenwood & RMS; Hatmaker at other locales.   Hamdi to leave info at 180 and Campbell at TN Sports Complex.   Suggestion from Hughie Thomas to allow campers will receive free admission to the game on March 29th v. Central.  Joe Hamdi will check on lunches from Subway.  Assistance will be appreciated on the days of the camp.  The players will be assisting coaches with camp.  Contact Diego Del-Castillo, Jesus Gonzalez, or Felix Liang.

3. Spring Trip (March 17 – 21) – The team will train at Wears Valley Ranch near Pigeon Forge.  They will do a ropes course and other team building exercises, including their own food preparation.  The team will stay in a large comfortable lodge.  Chaperones are still being requested, for even part of the trip.  Cost will be $265 plus cost of transportation.  Parents must notify Denise Hamdi by March 1 if unable to pay full cost.  Booster President will notify parents final cost on March 1st, and full payment is due no later than March 9.

4. Program/Banner - This is being prepared by Fred Smith and Karen Renner to be available by first home game after spring break.  More contacts are requested.  March 5 is program deadline.  A profit of $2500 is projected from sales of $5000, printing costs $2700.  Banners can be hung at the field for a fee: 4x8 foot banner is $300 for spring, $450 for spring and fall, $100 banner prep if they don’t have their own (high profit media).

5. Concessions and ticket assignments will be made and sent out.  Parents are responsible for switching as needed.   (Don't shoot the messenger.) 

6. Communication - Concern was expressed that parents unable to attend the meeting (band concert, basketball games) be kept in the loop.  A meeting with OJ was suggested and tentatively scheduled for March 1st.  MARK YOUR CALENDARS and look for confirmation email.
